BMW F87 M2/M2 Competition Racing Valved Exhaust system | GWAPOTech JAPAN
The exhaust for the BMW F87 M2/M2 Competition consists of:
Downpipe
Center Pipe
Rear Exhaust
The exhaust design for the F87 M2 Competition is very similar to that of the F82/F82 M3 M4.
First, let us introduce the components starting from the front downpipe.
This is the stock downpipe of the M2 Competition. The stock downpipe has a large catalytic converter due to the strict Euro emission regulations, which naturally reduces the sound volume.
We offer a straight-pipe option without the catalytic converter or a 200-cell sports catalytic converter (optional at additional cost). This is highly effective for increasing volume, reducing weight, and enhancing horsepower tuning.
Next, we introduce the cat-back system, an essential sound tuning part following the downpipe. Here, we present the rear exhaust and center exhaust together.
The stock center exhaust has numerous large silencers, which significantly restrict exhaust efficiency.
Theoretically, making this section straight can significantly increase volume, but if the flow is too free, it can lead to unpleasant sound quality and noise.
We have developed an equal-length center exhaust for the M2 Competition, where the lengths of the left and right pipes are perfectly equal. The main benefit of this equal-length center pipe is that it eliminates sound breakage and ensures the sound remains outputted even at high RPMs.
The center pipe is compatible with the stock rear exhaust and downpipe, so it can be replaced individually. However, we have also developed a single-type (torque-focused) equal-length center pipe that can be replaced together with the rear exhaust.
We offer high quality materials in both stainless steel and titanium.
Additionally, although the M2 cannot have equal-length pipes due to the limitations of the left and right banks, we have instead created a center pipe that prioritizes power and excitement, comparable to the Competition model.
For the rear exhaust, we adopt a variable valve system that allows for volume adjustment depending on usage.
To emphasize the ON/OFF distinction of the valve, we use a larger silencer, designed so that in silent mode, the volume is on par with the stock silent mode, making it a gentleman's specification that can be driven comfortably even at night or in residential areas.
When the valve is opened, it fully utilizes the potential of the NA engine to produce a racing sound, making it a sound-tuning item that enhances everyday driving experiences.
We have adopted more than five design types for the rear exhaust, so please feel free to consult us if you have any desired designs.
We also offer a variety of rear exhaust tip options, allowing you to choose the best design based on your vehicle's image.
