The muffler for the Porsche 911 992 Carrera and Turbo series consists of ① exhaust manifold, ② downpipe, and ③rear exhaust.
Strictly speaking, we categorize our products differently for the Carrera and Turbo series due to differences in muffler dimensions.
First, let's look at the rear exhaust, which is a common replacement part for sound tuning in the 992 series.
Our rear exhaust are designed with a sound layout primarily focused on high-pitched tones.
In the 992 series, due to exhaust gas regulations posing challenges, our rear exhausts feature a design where the pipes are completely straight in Straight mode, independent of the silencer, enabling a powerful volume. At the X-section where the left and right pipes cross, the exhaust collision enhances the high-frequency range at high RPMs, thereby producing a high-pitched sound.
Additionally, the contents of the large center silencer, not visible from the outside, are meticulously designed with calculated piping, punching, and the amount of glass wool. This design provides a balanced contrast in sound between the ON and OFF states of the valve, offering a silent mode that matches OEM standards in sound suppression—a Gentleman specification.
Next, let's look at the downpipe, which connects the rear muffler to the exhaust manifold.
The OEM downpipes are equipped with large catalytic converters due to strict exhaust gas regulations in the Eurozone, which significantly restricts sound volume.
In consideration of the challenges in sound tuning for later models of the 991 series compared to earlier versions, we generally recommend straightening the downpipe section to achieve a significantly more powerful sound. Within our downpipes, we have integrated a special design feature—a sensor canceler—to prevent O2 sensors from reacting. This ensures that the sensors do not mistakenly detect the presence of a catalytic converter, thus avoiding related errors similar to OEM setups.
Lastly, let's discuss the sound tuning component—the Headers.
The OEM exhaust manifold is equipped with unequal-length pipes, resulting in a significantly reduced sound volume that deviates from a sporty sound profile.
